The Lord of the Rings are a trilogy of films based off of the books of the title by author J. R. R. Tolkien. Throughout the films we follow the epic journey of the hobbit Frodo Baggins and his companions as they continue on a quest to destroy the one ring and defeat the evil dark lord Sauron once and for all.

The Lord of the Rings won great acclaim, and is the sixth highest grossing series of all time. They have also won numerous awards, winning a grand total of 17 Academy Awards and being nominated for 30. The last film in the series, The Return of the King, won every Academy Award it was nominated for, 11 all together, thus tying with Ben Hur and Titanic for winning the most Acedemy’s for a single film.
The movies come even more to life with the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings on Blu-ray. The films are shown on two discs and feature more than 26 hours of additional content. Rare behind the scenes documentaries are included, done by filmmaker Costa Botes. The Fellowship of the Ring, the first movie of the series, is also shown remastered from its original 2k files, thus encompassing the largest, most comprehensive Lord of the Rings film collection to date.
