Finding Nemo is the story of two clownfish, Nemo and his father Marlin, and the adventure Martin goes on in order to find his son. Marlin’s wife and all but one of their eggs were eaten by a barracuda, and ever since Marlin has been more than a little over protective of his son. When Nemo gets taken by a diver Marlin pledges to find Nemo and sets out on a quest to retrieve his son with the help of new found friend Dory. At the same time Nemo’s new friends in an aquarium tank come up with one harebrained scheme after another to return Nemo to freedom and his father.
Martin and Coral are protecting their clutch of eggs at their new home on the Great Barrier Reef when Coral and all but one of the eggs gets devoured by a barracuda. Nemo, the only hatchling not to get eaten, has a slight abnormality, one fin being smaller than the other. Nemo feels that Marlin is overprotective of him, not allowing Nemo to do anything fun, so when dared by his new friends Nemo begins to swim out to sea.
A diver jumps into the water at that moment and takes Nemo back to Australia with him, putting him a tank full of other salt water fish at his dentist’s office. Distraught, Marlin begins to follow the boat, only to lose track of it. After meeting Dory, a fish with a terrible memory, and finding the diver’s mask with an address on it, they decide to follow after Nemo.
Nemo finds himself in a tank with several other fish, one of whom, Gill, was taken from the ocean just like him. As Nemo’s father gets closer and closer, the Tank Gang comes up with one scheme after another to escape to freedom before the dentist’s niece Darla comes to take Nemo home as her birthday present. With no other choice, Nemo plays dead to fool the girl, something which his father sees and believes. After escaping down a drain pipe, Nemo finally makes his way back to the ocean where he finds his father and saves Dory and a school of fish from being taken by a fisherman’s net.
